My best friend (Мій найкращий друг)

I am an ordinary teenager aged 16 and like any other person I have friends. I have a lot of friends and I spend almost all my time with them.
But there is only one person who knows and understands me best of all. This only person I can call my best friend.
Her name is Helen. She is one year older than me. We have known each other since I was 5 and she was 6. Our first meeting started with a quarrel for a doll. And exactly at that moment we understood that there is something much more important than a doll. It was our friendship.
As small kids, we spent all the time together playing, walking, and talking. And now when we are teenagers we have less time to spend together because we study in different places. She is a student at a technical school and she studies to become a secretary. Nevertheless we try to phone each other and to share our news every spare minute. Also we like to spend the nights together. But we do not sleep, we gossip and chat the whole night. I think that all girls do the same.
Helen doesn’t like to study at all. Her marks at school sometimes could be better. Although I am one year younger than she is, I sometimes help her with her home tasks. She is interested in absolutely other things: fashion, clothes and boys.
Helen is very pretty. She is slim and not very tall. She has blond long wavy hair and blue eyes. She is very attractive and she always attracts young boys with the help of her charming smile and glamorous appearance. She likes trendy clothes and she wears a lot of jewelry. She likes boys. She has already had several boyfriends but she didn’t treat them seriously. I don’t consider her to be careless I just think she wants to live life to the hilt.
Sometimes I think that we are too different and do not understand what connects us. But I am sure that these differences make our friendship stronger. At least I can’t imagine my life without Helen. I really hope that we will stay best friends till the rest of our lives no matter what happens.

A family… What is it a family? Everybody understands this concept differently. One has a mother and a father and they are his or her family. One has the only child and they both make a family.
I must say, this all is not about me. My family is big. And I am really proud of this fact. My friends say that sometimes they even envy me. When my family gets together during the Christmas season, there is no room to swing a cat.
I have an extended family, which consists of 17 people. Everything starts from my grandparents. Their names are Dana and Petro. They are now rather old and retired. My granny is 75 and grandpa is 84. They live in a small flat in a lovely small town in western Ukraine. My grandparents have three children: my aunt Maria, my uncle Vladimir and my mother Olga. And each of their children made their own nuclear family.
So, let’s talk about my aunt. When she was 18, she married a young and handsome military officer named Vladimir. They moved houses very often but at last they settled in Belarus where their son, my eldest cousin, was born. His name is Vladimir. Now he is married and has his own family. His wife is Oksana and they have a son called Aleksey. Unfortunately, my aunt’s husband died about ten years ago and I really miss him.
The family of my uncle Vladimir is rather big, too. He married his classmate Raisa and they have two children: two boys Anatoliy and Peter. Anatoliy married Nataly and they have two daughters: Raisa (named after her grandmother) and Yana. My youngest cousin Petro is a student and he lives in Lvov.
My family consists of four people: my parents, my sister and me. My parents went to the same school and after my dad had come back from the army they married. Then my sister was born and I was born four years later. You know, I am a schoolgirl and my sister is a student in Chernovtsy. She is going to be a lawyer. My mother is a librarian and my father is a taxi-driver. So, as you can see we are a typical Ukrainian family and we never get bored on holidays.

About myself (Про мене)

Hi there. My name is Tatiana and I want to tell you about myself. To start with I would like to admit that it is not an easy thing to talk about
myself because it is really hard to have a look at yourself from aside and to see your disadvantages. But on the other hand, who knows you better than you yourself do?
So, I am a girl of 16. I live in Kamianets-Podilskyi. This is not a very big but interesting town in Khmelnitsky region. I live in a three-roomed flat in a big block of flats together with my parents. I am not the only child in my family. I have an elder sister. Her name is Lyudmila. She is 25 years old and she lives separately in Kyiv. My parents are very kind and honest people. They are both 50 years old. My mother is a librarian at school and my father is a taxi-driver. They are simple, hard-working people and they always tried to bring me and my sister up in a very good way. I hope that we equalled their hopes.
I am a school girl. But this is my last year at school. This year I am finishing school and going to enter the university. I am a very sociable and easy-going person. So, that’s why I have a lot of friends at school and as I live far from my school I have friends in my yard. I like to spend my free time with them. Sometimes we go for a walk and sometimes at the weekends we go to a disco club.
I am very active. I like to be on the move every minute. After school I visit classes of classical dances. I also tried to learn to play the piano but I didn’t have enough time and I decided to choose dancing. You understand that boys prefer girls with chiseled figure to piano-players.
So, as you have already understood I am not very tall but rather slender. My friends say that I am pretty enough and I believe them. I have long fair hair. My eyes are green and I have a mouth bow. What I don’t like is my nose. It is a bit bulbous but it doesn’t spoil my face.
I must confess that I am a little bit lazy and stubborn. I don’t like to clean my room and my mom always makes me to wash the dishes. That’s why sometimes there is a little mess in my room. Also I don’t like to waste my time on studies. Fortunately, I am smart enough and it doesn’t take me much time to get ready for the classes. I read a lot and know a lot. It helps me to get rid of bad marks even when I am not prepared for the lessons in a proper way. You may think that I am boasting but I am just telling you the truth. And you, guys, judge for yourselves.
I am said to be kind and generous. I always help those who are in need and always give a hand when my friends need anything: money, a piece of advice or a sincere conversation.
As all teenagers I like music and movies. I like pop music and adore romantic melodramas. I like to travel, especially in summer. Several times I traveled abroad with my parents and I always try to see new places in my native country together with my friends.
So, I think that’s all for now. I tried to do my best to tell you about myself as much as possible. And I suppose you won't misunderstand me.
