My working day (Мій робочий день)
Автор: Тетяна Франковська
I am sure that every person prefers weekends to working days, but working days are inevitable in our life. I have my working days from Monday to Friday.
My typical working day starts with the mad sound of my alarm clock. It is very difficult for me to get up and it takes me a lot of time and effort. I can even set my alarm-clock to go off 15 minutes earlier the time I have to get up. So, I try to get up at 7 o’clock. Then, when I have at last woken up, I go to the bathroom. I have a shower, wash my face and brush my teeth there.
Then I go to the kitchen. My mother is an early-bird and I know that breakfast is already on the table. I usually have a cup of tea with a sandwich or biscuits for breakfast. After breakfast I go back to my room and get dressed. There is a rule in my school that all the children must wear a school uniform. So, I never have a problem with my clothes for school.
I usually get to school by bus but sometimes when my father is in a good mood he drives me there. My classes start at 8.30. I normally have 6 or 7 lessons a day. All the lessons are conducted in different classrooms. We have 10-minute breaks after each class and two 20-minute breaks after the third and the fourth lessons. I spend the breaks relaxing with my friends in a school yard or having lunch in a school canteen. My lessons usually finish at 3 o’clock.
After classes I do after-school activities. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I go to a dance school. The classes start at 4 o’clock and go on till 6 o’clock there. After the dance-school I go home very tired but happy.
At home I have dinner and do my homework. As I am a school-leaver I have to study very hard and it takes me very much time to get ready for the school classes. Sometimes it happens that I go to bed at midnight or even later totally exhausted. After such working days I sleep like a log.
But the sun rises, a new day comes and you have to get up, to wash, get dressed and go to school again.

My weekend (Мої вихідні)
Автор: Тетяна Франковська
Every person whether an adult or a teenager cannot work all the time and needs to have a rest. Usually all the people have a little rest during
their weekends. I am not an exception. I really enjoy relaxing and having fun with my friends. Starting from Wednesday I begin to look forward to the weekends.
My weekends usually start on Friday afternoon. I come back from school, throw my bag into the corner and go to meet my friends. I haven’t seen them for five days, so I missed them very much.
On Friday we usually go to the city centre. We go to a pizzeria or a café, and then we go to the cinema and watch there a new film. We usually like to watch comedies. But sometimes we go bowling. I like bowling very much and I especially live those colourful bowling shoes and when I score points by bowling strikes.
On Saturday mornings and afternoons I usually help my mother about the house. My mother usually cooks and I clean our flat. I dust, vacuum the carpets, water the plants and wash the clothes.
Saturday evenings I like to spend in a company of my best friend Helen. We can go for a walk in the park or stay at home. We like playing table games such as Monopoly or scrabble. Also we like watching films. Sometimes we can organize a pyjama-party with some other friends.
On Sunday I usually sleep till midday. I can play computer games, surf the Internet or look through the fresh press. Then I get ready for the coming Monday. I do my home tasks, pack my bag, and iron my clothes. The rest of the day I spend with my family. It has become our tradition to have family dinner on Sundays.
So, I have enough emotions after the weekend to spend the working week energetically.

My school (Моя школа)
Автор: Тетяна Франковська
Almost every teenager tells that he/she hates his/her school; that he/she would like to burn it down or to blow it up.
But it is not about me. I like my school very much and I go to school with great pleasure and with a smiling face. I like my teachers and classmates. But let’s talk about it in details.
My school is located in the centre of my town. I live far from it and I have to go there by bus every morning.
In front of the school you can find a lot of trees, bushes and flowerbeds. Behind the school there is a playground and a football pitch. The building of my school has four floors: one of them is underground. There is a cloakroom on this floor where schoolchildren can leave their jackets and coats. Also there is a workshop for boys and a craft classroom for girls.
On the ground floor there is a gym and two locker rooms: for boys and for girls. Also there you can find an office of a school nurse. This floor is equipped for primary pupils. Sometimes it is even impossible to move through this floor because small children are all around you running and jumping like insects. But nevertheless at least once or twice a day you have to be on this floor. There are WCs and a school canteen there.
On the first floor there is a headmaster’s office and a teacher’s room. Also there are different classrooms for junior and senior pupils on this floor.
On the second floor you can find our school library and a museum of our school. In our library you can get any book you want. Our librarian is very friendly and is always ready to help you. In our museum you’ll be told about the foundation of the school and the people who made it prosperous. Almost all the classrooms are supplied with modern equipment. Almost every week we have some kind of activities: contests, exhibitions, sports competitions, concerts, scientific conferences etc.
My school is one of the best in my town. Many pupils of my school are famous not only in our country but also abroad. I am glad that I am a pupil of this very school and I am really proud of this fact.

My home (Мій дім)
Автор: Тетяна Франковська
My parents got married in 1983 when the Soviet Union still existed. As you know, at Soviet Union times almost all young couples were given
flats free of charge, which looked absolutely similar. The same happened to my parents. They were given a three-roomed flat in one of the sleeping quarters of our town. But my mother tried to make our flat unlike the others.
There are three rooms, a hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and two balconies in my flat. When you enter my flat, you appear in a long hall where you can find a set of wardrobes and a big mirror.
On the right hand there is a kitchen. Our kitchen is not very big but it is very cozy. There you can find all the appliances you need in a modern kitchen. There is a fridge, a gas cooker, a microwave oven, a food processor, a mixer, a coffee maker and so on. Also there is modern furniture, a kitchen table and four chairs. The walls are decorated with embroidered pictures. There is a big window in the kitchen and that’s why this room is always full of sunlight. My family likes to spend time in the kitchen because it is the warmest and the most comfortable place in my flat.
Going along the hall, you will enter a living room (also on the right hand). This room is my father’s favourite. He likes to have a rest there, lying on the sofa and watching TV. There is a set of wardrobes and bookcases on the right side of the room. On the left side there is a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table between them. Also there is a big TV set in front of the sofa. There is a big window and a balcony in this room. My mother likes plants very much and that’s why this room and the balcony are full of plants.
Next to the living-room you can find a children’s room. It used to be my sister’s and my room but as my sister lives separately, this room is mine now. This is the smallest room in the flat but it doesn’t diminish its advantages. There is a wardrobe, a sofa, a bookcase, a desk with a computer on it and a dressing table. There is a fluffy carpet on the floor. There are posters on the walls and pot plants on the windowsill.
Our bathroom is painted in green colours. Our bathtub and a wash basin are yellow. Our towels and bathrobes are of different colours, the rug is blue, so that’s why when you enter this room you have an impression that you are inside a rainbow.
The toilet-room is really very small. There is nothing except a toilet and a small cabinet next to it.
So, let’s move to the last room in my flat. It is at the end of the hall on your left hand. This is my parents’ room. There is a double-bed, two bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe in this room. It is painted in warm colours and it is always a pleasure to rest there, reading a book or watching TV, which is on the wall. There is the second balcony in this room.
As they say, “My home is my castle”. So my home is a real castle for me and I don’t want to have another one.

My favourite subject at school (Мій улюблений предмет у школі)
Автор: Тетяна Франковська
You will rarely hear from a typical teenager that he or she likes to study. Almost all of them complain that learning is not interesting and
boring. They say that teachers are not qualified and cannot conduct a lesson to make it cognitive and exciting. But I think that all the subjects at school are useful and help us to expand our outlook.
I am a humanitarian. It means that I am not interested in such subjects as Maths, Chemistry or Physics. I like lessons where you have to deal with an art of words. I like literature and languages.
My favourite subject at school is foreign literature. When I was a child, I used to read a lot of children’s books: fairy-tales, legends, myths etc. I still have a habit of reading. Wherever I go, I have a book in my bag. I think while reading you can forget all your troubles and you involve yourself in the magnificent and unpredictable world of literature. You can observe lives of characters as though you are the best friends. You laugh with them, suffer with them, cry with them or rejoice with them.
When I have some problems with understanding some passages of the book, my teacher of foreign literature is always ready to help me. I adore these lessons. During these classes pupils are taught to understand the main topic and idea of a book. Mostly we learn theory but this theory helps to evaluate all the advantages and disadvantages of that or another book.
Our teacher organised a drama club where we perform episodes from different books. You can play a role of your favourite heroine and to experience all the situations on your own. It’s really great. Once we had a real full-house when we staged an abstract from “Evgeniy Onegin”. I played the role of Olga Onegina, the main heroine’s sister.
I was so excited with this book and not only with that one but with lots of others that I decided to continue my further studies in Literature. My teacher of foreign literature inspired me and I decided to follow in her steps.
